Everything I’ve ever created started because I couldn’t find what I needed. I was looking to create a Bougie Vida, not defined by material extravagance, but a more mindful approach to living, finding joy in life's simple pleasures.
For me, joy always began with something sweet, but it had to be good and good for you. So I started with cupcakes—healthy, delicious, and made without the junk I didn’t want to put in my body. Then came gemstone bracelets, designed for portable meaning—each one created around three purposes: healing properties, color influence, and visual symbols. Three elements, one message. A wearable reminder of what matters.
Fragrance came next, born from the same need to find something clean, safe, and emotionally rich—without the toxins so many products still carry. I started blending fragrances and making candles for myself, then shared them with friends. And when they asked where to buy it, I took it to market.
The real joy lives in the details: the candle label designed to look like a cabana striped towel on a white sand beach. The bracelet that grounds you before a big day. The room spray that clears more than just the air. These are small things—but they help shift the moment. And that’s where joy begins.
Joy is the baseline—the emotional center I return to throughout the day. Like a doctor uses a baseline to understand your physical health, I use joy to gauge my emotional health. Emotions—stress, doubt, excitement, even sadness—rise and fall all day. But when I become aware of what I’m feeling, I check it against my baseline and make a shift. Joy is what I want to feel, even when I'm labeling a candle.
Living at the beach provided the energy and inspiration to feel better—to create a lifestyle that supported my joy. That’s what I hope you feel with every Bougie Vida product: a pause, a gentle reset, and a sense of, there it is...joy.
